Location: Elementary Schools (Full Time and Part Time Positions Avaliable)
Qualifications:
REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Director of Special Services
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Speech-Language Pathologist provides services to students with speech/language impairments in the areas of oral language, articulation, fluency, and/or voice within the educational setting.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Conducts screenings and participates in the referral process
- Conducts comprehensive assessments to identify speech/language impairments in students.
- Interprets assessment results and communicates findings to team members.
- Develops and implements individualized education plans of identified students.
- Provides direct therapy services to students, both individually and in groups.
- Plans, prepares and implements new programs or facilitates change in the existing Speech Therapy Program.
- Organizes, directs and coordinates speech/language therapy programs.
- Collaborates with school personnel and parents to coordinate the delivery of services to students within an inclusive learning environment.
- Engages in ongoing professional development to stay informed about current research and best practices.
- Incorporates the South Carolina Education Standards for Communication and English/Language Arts into the Individual Education Plans for each student.
- Performs other related duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Conducts duties in a classroom environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students. Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring lifting/moving of items up to 25 pounds. Occasional local travel is required; no overnight travel is required. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
